The Cone of Silence

So I went to Exposition yesterday. I spent about an hour. It was really great. Very glad I went. My day after that went pretty normal. I went out to dinner with a few friends and a few of my friends' friends.
Anyhoo, two women sat across from me and continued to talk about me in a not so quiet voice. They did have their hands over their mouths when they did this, so I guess that means I couldn't hear them. No, I am the type of person who takes great offense to this. I mean, what reason could anyone have to not love me(let alone dislike me). Seriously, I had done nothing to elicit this from them...unless you count me talking about travis the monkey?
I'm pretty sensitive and fairly mean. I'm the type, that when that kind of thing happens, I will hop on my broomstick(no need to pop on a prosthetic witch nose with wart, as my nose will suffice) and start hurling the insults. However, this time, after I got over being offended, I remained calm. I thought to myself. I haven't done anything wrong. These women have no reason to be so mean. Therefore I do not need to defend myself nor do I need to stoop to their level. Christ did everything right and people talked bad about Him. Even while He was doing good, people said He was possessed and told lies about Him. So I sat there and took it. It was not easy. But the more I meditated on it and united it with Christ's suffering, the easier it got. But the end of dinner, I was wanting them to be meaner to me. I am stunned!!!!!!!!! This can only be because I spent time in Adoration and received Grace. Clearly this is not from me, I'm a nasty beast. I wait for people to say something snotty so I can say something ignoble back. Now here I am waiting for people to say something snarky just so I can suffer silently.
Next time at Adoration I will ask for a pot of gold ;)
I will definitely be going back as often as possible.

Unbelievable

How come the news is not reporting THIS:
MEDIA ADVISORY, Mar. 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- Some of you may have seen the major news story of the private plane that crashed into a Montana cemetery, killing 7 children and 7 adults.

But what the news sources fail to mention is that the Catholic Holy Cross Cemetery owned by Resurrection Cemetery Association in Butte - contains a memorial for local residents to pray the rosary, at the 'Tomb of the Unborn'. This memorial, located a short distance west of the church, was erected as a dedication to all babies who have died because of abortion.

What else is the mainstream news not telling you? The family who died in the crash near the location of the abortion victim's memorial, is the family of Irving 'Bud' Feldkamp, owner of the largest for-profit abortion chain in the nation.

Family Planning Associates was purchased four years ago by Irving Moore "Bud" Feldkamp III, owner of Allcare and Hospitality Dental Associates and CEO of Glen Helen Raceway Park in San Bernardino. The 17 California Family Planning clinics perform more abortions in the state than any other abortion provider - Planned Parenthood included - and they perform abortions through the first five months of pregnancy.

Although Feldkamp is not an abortionist, he reaps profits of blood money from the tens of thousands of babies that are killed through abortions performed every year at the clinics he owns. His business in the abortion industry was what enabled him to afford the private plane that was carrying his family to their week-long vacation at The Yellowstone Club, a millionaires-only ski resort.

The plane went down on Sunday, killing two of Feldkamp's daughters, two sons-in-law and five grandchildren along with the pilot and four family friends. The plane, a single-engine turboprop flown by Bud Summerfield of Highland, crashed into the Catholic cemetery and burst into flames, only 500 ft. From its landing destination. All aboard were killed.

The cause of the crash is a mystery. The pilot, who was a former military flier who logged over 2,000 miles, gave no indication to air traffic controllers that the aircraft was experiencing difficulty when he asked to divert to an airport in Butte. Witnesses report that the plane suddenly nosedived toward the ground with no apparent signs of a struggle. There was neither a cockpit voice recorder nor a flight data recorder onboard, and no radar clues into the planes final moments because the Butte airport is not equipped with a radar facility. Some speculate that the crash was due to ice on the wings, but this particular plane model has been tested for icy weather and experts have stated that ice being the cause is unlikely.

In my time working for Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, I helped organize and conduct a weekly campaign where youth activists stood outside of Feldkamp's mini-mansion in Redlands holding fetal development signs and raising community awareness regarding Feldkamp's dealings in child murder for profit. Every Thursday afternoon we called upon Bud and his wife Pam to repent, seek God's blessing and separate themselves from the practice of child killing.

We warned him, for his children's sake, to wash his hands of the innocent blood he assisted in spilling because, as Scripture warns, if "you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you". (Ezekiel 35:6)

A news source states that Bud Feldkamp visited the site of the crash with his wife and their two surviving children on Monday. As they stood near the twisted and charred debris talking with investigators, light snow fell on the tarps that covered the remains of their children.

I don't want to turn this tragic event into some creepy spiritual 'I told you so' moment, but I think of the time spent outside of Feldkamp's - Pam Feldkamp laughing at the fetal development signs, Bud Feldkamp trying not to make eye contact as he got into his car with a small child in tow - and I think of the haunting words, 'Think of your children.' I wonder if those words were haunting Feldkamp as well as he stood in the snow among the remains of loved ones, just feet from the 'Tomb of the Unborn'?

I only hope and pray that in the face of this tragedy, Feldkamp recognizes his need for repentance and reformation. I pray that God will use this unfortunate catastrophe to soften the hearts of Bud and Pam and that they will draw close to the Lord and wash their hands of the blood of thousands of innocent children, each as precious and irreplaceable as their own.

"I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then." (Deut. 30:19)

Pray and Sign

Please sign this Petition! And pray for Fr. John Jenkin, President of Notre Dame. St. John Chrysostom said, “the floor of hell is carpeted with the skulls of priests.” I have also heard another saint(whose name escapes me) say that all of hell cringes when a priest commits mortal sin. Even though they incite the sin, the demons still have angelic intelligence and they know how repulsive a mortal sin from a consecrated soul is. Please pray for this priest. Even if it is one Hail Mary. Another saint(whose name also escapes me) said that saying one Hail Mary avails so much that it is worth 1,000 years of torments just to pray it.
Sorry tat I can never recall the names of saints. I have a photographic memory, but nothing ever develops;)

Article from Lifesitenews:
MANASSAS, Virginia, March 24, 2009 - As of Tuesday afternoon, over 75,000 signatures have poured into an online petition launched this past Friday by the Cardinal Newman Society (CNS). The petition opposes Notre Dame's honoring President Obama with an invitation to offer the commencement address and receive an honorary law degree on May 17.

CNS introduced the petition on a new website dedicated to the scandal, http://www.notredamescandal.com, almost immediately after the White House and Notre Dame's website simultaneously broke the news on Friday afternoon that Obama had accepted the invitation. Since then, the petition has gathered signatures at lightning speed, averaging 1,000 new signatures every 15 minutes.

"People are outraged, and the alumni of Notre Dame in particular are communicating to each other," CNS president Patrick J. Reilly said in an interview with LifeSiteNews.com today. Reilly noted that he recently spoke with a Notre Dame alumnus who said he "barely slept because all day yesterday, and much of the night, he was on email and on the phone with other alumni."

"It's amazing the outrage that we're seeing," he added.

Reilly said he did not expect such a large response. "We see outrages all the time, and I think this for many people was the last straw," he said. "The president has been waging a campaign of human destruction with his policies, and abortion, and stem-cell research, and now trying to eliminate conscience protections for healthcare workers.

"And in the meantime, Catholic institutions - in particular Catholic universities - have been very quick to abandon their Catholic mission for the sake of prestige. And this is probably the most prominent Catholic University hosting the most prominent leader of the Culture of Death."

Responding to Notre Dame president Fr. John Jenkin's statement that the invitation would stand, and was intended to recognize Obama's "accomplishments and leadership," Reilly referred to Notre Dame Bishop John D'Arcy's condemnation of the invite, which invoked a 2004 directive by U.S. bishops not to honor pro-abortion politicians. Sister Jerk, The Little Weed

The local parishes take turns having Mass at an area nursing home. I go around the home and help bring the residents to Mass. Anyhoo, one man another person was helping to Mass has dementia. As someone wheeled him out of his room and onto the elevator he says, "I'm cold." I'm wearing a shawl and I did not offer it to him. I could not even give the man my shawl to drape over his shoulders during Mass. What a jerk I am! Here I am valuing a piece of fabric over a human in God's Image.
I can't believe how happy these people are to have me hold their hand or even just smile at them. All they want is a little company and a little love. All I can think about is not getting drool or snot on me.
One saint, I can't recall which, said that the Gospel can be summed up in five words, "YOU DID IT TO ME!"
I will get another chance to be charitable. I pray that God grants me the grace to overcome my weaknesses. But for the rest of my life I have to KNOW that I heard Our Lord say to me "I'm cold," and I clutched my shawl and walked away. I wasn't even cold, I didn't need to wear the darn shawl at that moment.
I have heard this story about His Excellency Archbishop which has given me a little comfort that many have struggled with this(not that that makes it right!):

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, in his autobiography TREASURE IN CLAY, recounts a visit he made to a leper colony in Buluba, Africa. He intended to give a silver crucifix to each of the 500 lepers residing in Buluba.
The first person who came forward, however, was a man so disfigured by the ravages of leprosy that Sheen was repulsed by the sight. The man's left arm was eaten off at the elbow by the disease; so he extended his right hand. This hand, too, was unspeakably corrupted by this awful disease.

Unable to bear the leper's presence, Sheen held the crucifix above the man's palm and dropped it, where it was immediately swallowed up in the decaying flesh. Instantly, Sheen was aware of his unrighteous act. He had taken the crucifix--God's sign of identification with humanity--and refused to associate himself with one of God's children. Overcome with remorse, Sheen dug his fingers into the man's leprosy and removed the crucifix. This time, he gently placed the crucifix in the man's hand. Sheen respectfully handed a crucifix to each of the remaining 499 lepers and, in the exchange, learned to love them.

St. Joseph

Next to the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph is my favorite saint. He has helped me out big time. I said the Novena to St. Joseph a few years ago and his help was quick and enduring. The shorter Novena is also good, although not nearly as beautiful. Please take time to honor him today. This is a good place for help in doing so.

Pray for us, O holy Joseph,

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

IMNSHO

In my not so humble opinion, I think everyone should join the Living Rosary and the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary....if you feel up to the obligation. They are not under the pain of sin, but you should be willing the fulfill the obligation if you join. Both are very indulgenced. The Living Rosary assigns you one decade for the rest of your life and you say that decade everyday. It is united with 14 other people and counts as having said the entire 12 decades. It has really changed my life.
I have not had anything blog-worthy to write in almost a week(unless there is interest in my repeated nightmares about knitting?), so you have to suffer through articles and vids. I am currently trying to overcome human respect. Who knew I had so far to go? I thought I was already at the bottom of that food chain. I have told one relative that I am no longer giving my opinion on such things as clothing, etc. To which she repeatedly held up outfits wanting to know my REAL opinion.
It was getting to me, the lukewarm route I was taking. When someone would hold up pasties and a thong, not wanting to say the obvious "THAT'S IMMODEST!," I would say, "hey is that rhine stone on those pasties," or "Is that thong turquoise, I love turquoise." Sitting on this fence was starting to give me hemorrhoids.
I am sure there is a blog to follow the situation comedy that will come of this. Until then, I will be posting little and hiding my face in the corner.

Lifesite News

By Kathleen Gilbert

ROCKFORD, Illinois, March 16, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Grotesque "decorations" in the windows of a notorious Rockford abortion facility, featuring rubber chickens hanging from nooses, led to a life saved, after two young men, disgusted by the display, convinced their pregnant companion to leave the building.

The incident took place last Friday at the Northern Illinois Women's Center in Rockford IL, where two men had brought a 17-year-old female friend for an abortion. Kevin Rilott, a pro-life veteran at the notorious Rockford mill, reports that the young men came out of the building and began conversing with pro-life participants in the 40 Days for Life vigil, as neither of them approved of the abortion.

When the 40 Days for Life crowd pointed out the disturbing display - three rubber chickens lynched in the abortion mill's windows - the two men were aghast, and expressed shock and disbelief. "I can't believe the black community isn't offended," said one.

The Rockford abortion centre has showcased bizarre and disturbing symbols since at least May 2008, when the display included mock-sacred images, including the "crucifixion" of a rubber chicken, and a nun in a coffin. (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/may/08050717.html)

"It was interesting to see this young man's reaction when he saw all the rubber chickens hanging by nooses in the windows of what he thought was a medical facility, it really opened his eyes to what this place is all about, a mockery of life," said Rilott.

Incited by what they perceived as an egregious insult, the two men decided to try again to convince their female friend not to abort, taking the group's pro-life pamphlets with them back into the mill. All three soon came out of the building, and the pro-lifers were able to offer the young mother help.

"It was very clear this morning to all who where there that these young men and the young mother knew abortion is wrong," said Rilott. "But seeing in the windows of this mill the sickening nature of what really happens inside opened their eyes."

"Without knowing the racist history of abortion in Rockford this young man immediately saw how offensive hanging rubber chickens by nooses in the windows of a building located in an African American neighborhood is," said pro-lifer Donna Modica, who was present that morning. "It's sad to see so many African American parents bring their children to a place like this."

Rockford's 40 Days for Life states that nine babies have been saved since the start of the campaign this year.

Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe as a Pictograph

The Image of Our Lady is actually an Aztec
Pictograph which was read and understood
quickly by the Aztec Indians.

1. THE LADY STOOD IN FRONT OF
THE SUN
She was greater than the dreaded
Huitzilopochtli, their sun-god of war.

2. HER FOOT RESTED ON THE
CRESCENT MOON
She had clearly crushed Quetzalcoatl,
the feathered serpent moon-
god.

3. THE STARS STREWN ACROSS
THE MANTLE
She was greater than the stars of heaven which they worshipped.
She was a virgin and the Queen of the heavens for Virgo rests over
her womb and the northern crown upon her head. She appeared on
December 12, 1531 and the stars that she wore are the constellations
of the stars that appeared in the sky that day!

4. THE BLUE‑GREEN HUE OF HER MANTLE
She was a Queen because she wears the color of royalty.

5. THE BLACK CROSS ON THE BROOCH AT HER NECK
Her God was that of the Spanish Missionaries, Jesus Christ her son
who died on the cross for all mankind.

6. THE BLACK BELT
She was with child because she wore the Aztec Maternity Belt.

7. THE FOUR PETAL FLOWER OVER THE WOMB
She was the Mother of God because the flower was a special symbol
of life, movement and deity-the center of the universe.

8. HER HANDS ARE JOINED IN PRAYER
She was not God but clearly there was one greater than Her and she
pointed her finger to the cross on her brooch.

9. THE DESIGN ON HER ROSE COLORED GARMENT
She is the Queen of the Earth because she is wearing a contour map
of Mexico telling the Indians exactly where the apparition took place.

The Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Science

1. The image to this date, cannot be explained by science.

2. The image shows no sign of deterioration after 450 years!
The tilma or cloak of Saint Juan Diego on which the image of Our
Lady has been imprinted, is a coarse fabric made from the threads of
the maguey cactus. This fiber disintegrates within 20-60 years!

3. There is no under sketch, no sizing and no protective over-varnish on
the image.

4. Microscopic examination revealed that there were no brush strokes.

5. The image seems to increase in size and change colors due to an
unknown property of the surface and substance of which it is made.

6. According to Kodak of Mexico, the image is smooth and feels like
a modern day photograph. (Produced 300 years before the invention
of photography.)

7. The image has consistently defied exact reproduction, whether by
brush or camera.

8. Several images can be seen reflected in the eyes of the Virgin. It is
believed to be the images of Juan Diego, Bishop Juan de Zumarraga,
Juan Gonzales, the interpreter and others.
9. The distortion and place of the images are identical to what is
produced in the normal eye which is impossible to obtain on a flat
surface.

10. The stars on Our Lady's Mantle coincide with the constellations in the
sky on December 12, 1531. All who have scientifically examined the
image of Our Lady over the centuries confess that its properties are
absolutely unique and so inexplicable in human terms that the image
can only be supernatural!

Poverty

Our Lady of Fatima said that we should love poverty. Not that I live in poverty now, but I am trying to give riches the shake move. I try to pray for a love of poverty when I pray the Joyful Mysteries. I mean, the Third Joyful, the Nativity, the Holy Family had nothing(and everything). On the fourth Joyful, the Presentation, Our Lady took two Turtledoves(Luke2:24) because they were a poor family(Leviticus5:7). It's not so easy to reject worldly goods and to love simplicity. I recall at one point seeing a nice cell phone my sister got this past summer and getting quite jealous. Then I got really embarrassed for being so jealous.
Anyhoo, I decided that when it was time to get a new cell for myself I would get the free one. So I did this and I am awaiting it's arrival in the mail. While I am trying to DO and HAVE less stuff, I am far from LOVING this(although I am happier). All I can think about is what kind of monstrosity of a cell phone I will be getting. I am picturing a refrigerator with an antenna being wheeled up to the door.
Needless to say I have to step up my devotion to the Rosary!

Just Sayin'

John 20
2 She ran, therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them: They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. 3 Peter therefore went out, and that other disciple, and they came to the sepulchre. 4 And they both ran together, and that other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. 5 And when he stooped down, he saw the linen cloths lying; but yet he went not in. 6 Then cometh Simon Peter, following him, and went into the sepulchre, and saw the linen cloths lying,

Why else would St. John refrain from entering if it was not for the primacy of St. Peter?

Hell

Pray that everyone goes to Heaven(even Ted Kennedy!) Remember, if St. Stephen had not prayed for his persecutors the Church would probably not have had the gift of St. Paul.

What it's like:
Proverbs 1
26 I also will laugh in your destruction, and will mock when that shall come to you which you feared. 27 When sudden calamity shall fall on you, and destruction, as a tempest, shall be at hand: when tribulation and distress shall come upon you: 28 Then shall they call upon me, and I will not hear: they shall rise in the morning and shall not find me: 29 Because they have hated instruction and received not the fear of the Lord, 30 Nor consented to my counsel, but despised all my reproof.

Deuteronomy 32
22 A fire is kindled in my wrath, and shall burn even to the lowest hell: and shall devour the earth with her increase, and shall burn the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap evils upon them, and will spend my arrows among them. 24 They shall be consumed with famine, and birds shall devour them with a most bitter bite: I will send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the fury of creatures that trail upon the ground, and of serpents.25 Without, the sword shall lay them waste, and terror within, both the young man and the virgin, the sucking child with the man in years.

Who goes there:
For many are called, but few chosen. (St. Mark 20:16)

Behold how many there are who are called, and how few who are chosen! And, if you have no care for yourself, your perdition is more certain than your amendment, especially since the way which leads to eternal life is so narrow. (St. John of the Cross)

How narrow is the gate and how strait the way that leads to life, and few there are who find it. (St. Matthew 7:13-14)

Do not be deceived; there are only two roads: one that leads to life and is narrow; the other that leads to death and is wide. There is no middle way. (St. Louis Marie de Montfort)

Oh how much are worldlings deceived who think to go to Heaven by the wide way that leadeth only to perdition! The path to Heaven is narrow, nor can it be trodden without great toil; and therefore wrong is their way and assured their ruin who, after the testimony of so many saints, will not learn where to settle their footing. (St. Robert Southwell)

The greater number of men still say to God: "Lord, we would rather be slaves of the devil and condemned to Hell than be Thy servants. Alas, the greatest number - we may say nearly all - offend and despise Thee, my Jesus. How many countries there are in which there are scarcely any Catholics, and all the rest either infidels or heretics! And all of them are certainly on the way to being lost. (St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori)

What do you think? How many of the inhabitants of this city may perhaps be saved? Out of this thickly-populated city, not one hundred people will be saved! I doubt whether there will even be as many as that! (St. John Chrysostom)

Brethren, the just man shall scarcely be saved. What, then, will become of the sinner? (St. Arsenius)

If the just man shall scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly sinner appear? (I St. Peter 4:18)

Scarcely anyone is saved. (St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori)

If you would be quite sure of your salvation, strive to be among the fewest of the few. Do not follow the majority of mankind, but follow those who renounce the world and never relax their efforts day or night so that they may attain everlasting blessedness. (St. Anselm)

So vast a number of miserable souls perish, and so comparatively few are saved! (St. Philip Neri)

The number of the saved is as few as the number of grapes left after the pickers have passed. (St. John Mary Vianney)

It shall be as when a man gathers in the harvest, and the fruit that shall be left shall be as a single cluster of grapes; two or three berries on top of a bough; or four or five on the top of a tree. (Isaias 17:5-6)

The destiny of those dying on one day is that not as many as ten went straight to Heaven; and those cast into Hell were as numerous as snowflakes in winter. (Bl. Anna Maria Taigi)

I tremble when I see how many souls are lost these days. They fall into Hell like leaves from the trees at the approach of winter. (St. John Mary Vianney)

Only a few will be saved; only few will go to Heaven. The greater part of mankind will be lost forever. (St. John Neumann)

There are a select few who are saved. (St. Thomas Aquinas)

The number of the Elect is so small - so small - that, were we to know how small it is, we would faint away with grief. One here and there, scattered up and down the world! (St. Louis Marie de Montfort)

They shall be so few that they shall easily be counted, and a child shall write them down. (Isaias 10:19)

Money Money Money

Must be funny, in a rich man's world. Ah haaaa ahhhhh.

Since brevity is the soul of wit, I shall make this a short one.

Numbers 11

18 And thou shalt say to the people: Be ye sanctified: tomorrow you shall eat flesh: for I have heard you say: Who will give us flesh to eat? it was well with us in Egypt. That the Lord may give you flesh, and you may eat: 19 Not for one day, nor two, nor five, nor ten, no nor for twenty. 20 But even for a month of days, till it come out at your nostrils, and become loathsome to you, because you have cast off the Lord, who is in the midst of you, and have wept before him, saying: Why came we out of Egypt?

I think because of our unhealthy obsession(worship?) with money God will soon make it come out of our noses!

Pope Innocent III

A bit about one of my favorite popes Pope Innocent III. I know hospitals are no longer what they once were since secular society has had its way.
From the book "Our Glorious Popes":

When,as one of the results of the Crusades, towns began to spring up all over Europe, where heretofore there had been fertile fields and farm lands, and diseases and epidemics began more frequently to infect the people living so unwontedly close together, Pope Innocent saw the need for hospitals, to take care especially of the ill who were without family to attend them. After he had carefully studied the matter, he asked the Fathers of the Holy Spirit to come to Rome and establish a hospital in the City of Popes.
The Hospital of the Holy Spirit, as Pope Innocent called his first hospital, soon earned a world-wide reputation for the excellence of its nursing care, the skill of its medical work, and the "discretion with which its surgical cases were treated!" It was a rule that all the sick picked up in the streets should be brought to the hospital, and that all the wounded and injured- all the "accident cases"- should be welcomed and given immediate attention.
Pope Innocent's hospitals spread, almost at once, to every country in Europe. In France, the sisters of the Holy Ghost established hospitals on the order of those which the Brothers of the Holy Ghost were founding. We know that all of the famous old English hospitals date from the beginning of the 13th century, and were an imitation of the Hospital of the Holy Spirit at Rome; hospitals in every modern sense of the word. In Germany, after Pope Innocent's example, there were founded in the 13th century, hospitals in 82 cities or towns.
The secret of the tremendous blessing upon Pope Innocent's work is revealed in the list of regulations for his hospitals, which happily have been preserved. The regulations of a medieval catholic hospital ordained that the patients were to be received as Christ the Lord, "Who Himself said, 'I was a stranger and you took Me in.'" The patient, moreover, having confessed his sins to the priest and received Holy Communion, was afterward "to be carried to bed and treated there as Our Lord, according to the resources of the house."

Suffering

I cut my finger and did not realize it. Then I went to wash dishes under scalding hot water and the hot water hit my raw skin. OUCH! Instead of offering it up for sinners or the souls in Purgatory I made the conscious decision to complain. Why am I so stingy with my suffering? Then I get all bummed for having let an opportunity pass. Like Mother Angelica said, "You will have more opportunity, but the one you let go is gone forever."

Literally, when I suffer, think to myself, "hhmmm, do I want to offer this up, or complain?"

Even when I make a small snackrifice...like not eating my last bite of desert, I can't keep it to myself. What is this about human nature that needs the endless praises? Or is it just me? Anyhoo, the sting of the hot water on my fresh skin(it really hurt...there I go again) reminded me of Jose Sanchez del Rio, a Mexican martyr.

On February 6, 1928, the Cristero army was overwhelmed by the federal army in fierce and bloody combat outside of Cotija. General Morfin’s horse was shot, and it looked as if he would soon be captured by the federal troops. José leapt off of his horse."General!" he shouted. "Take my mount and escape to safety. You are of far greater importance to the Cristero cause than I am."Helping Morfin up into the saddle, José delivered a hard swat across the backside of the horse and sent it galloping away. He then took his rifle and bandolier and, taking cover behind a rock, began shooting the federal soldiers closing around him. At last the boy ran out of ammunition, and standing up shouted to the enemy, "I have not surrendered. I have only stopped shooting you because I am out of cartridges."When the federal soldiers saw that they had been fired upon by a boy, they seized him in a fury. They put José in irons and dragged him off to the local church, which they had converted into a jail, a stable for their horses, and a coop for roosters they used in cockfights. These they had leashed to the church’s monstrance. Jose scolded the soldiers for desecrating a holy place.

To test his resolve, they forced José to watch as they took another captured Cristero, tortured him, and hanged him from a telegraph pole. Instead of looking away, José encouraged the prisoner, telling him that they would soon meet up in heaven. For two days, José was locked in the sacristy of the church, during which time he wrote to his mother, telling her that he had no fear, that he had welcomed the will of God and looked forward to dying in the light of our Lord. The captain of the guard offered José his freedom in exchange for information about the Cristeros, including the names of the people who were supplying them. José refused, so they pinned him down and cut the skin off the soles of his feet. At eleven at night, they marched José to the cemetery on the edge of town, all the while telling him that if he would deny Jesus Christ they would spare his life."¡ Viva Cristo Rey!" shouted José, the rallying cry of the Cristeros. "¡ Viva Cristo Rey!" over and over as he limped in his bloodied feet over the gravel and twigs. "Long Live Christ the King! Long Live the Virgin of Guadalupe!" At the graveyard, José was pushed into a shallow grave. Struggling to his feet he again shouted, "¡ Viva Cristo Rey!" To avoid the sound of gunfire, the commander of the firing squad ordered his men to stab the boy with their bayonets. "¡ Viva Cristo Rey!" Again the bayonet into his side. "¡ Viva Santa Maria de Guadalupe!""Say ‘Death to Christ the King’ and save your life!" demanded the captain of the guard."¡ Viva Cristo Rey!" The captain lost all patience and drew his own pistol. The first bullet struck José in the head, knocking him to the ground. As blood pooled next to his face, José, in a final act of defiance against the enemies of Jesus Christ who had taken over his country, dipped his hand in his blood and with it drew a cross in the dirt, then touched his lips to the cross. Six more bullets at point-blank range sent the martyr into the arms of his Savior.

Long story short.....I'm lame.

My Famous Nose

At the risk of braggadocio I am pointing out that my nose was indeed the inspiration for Ichabod Crane's nose. Although they did scale his back a bit so it could fit on screen.
Also notice that he and I have a an eerily similar social schedule.

aquiline
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin aquilinus, from aquila eagle
1 : curving like an eagle's beak 2 : of, relating to, or resembling an eagle

My Crazy Ramblings

It's snowing and I'm stuck inside. So Instead of the usual self ridicule, I am mulling over some deeper theology. Did God lead St. Peter out of prison the same way He led the Israelites out of Egypt? Is this symbolic of Him leading us out of the Old Cov., the same way He lead us into it? Please excuse me if I am completely off base. These are only my idiotic ramblings(to go along with my idiotic stumblings). The similarities b/t Herod and Pharao are obvious, imho. So I will not cover them(hard hearts, being struck down by God, etc.).

Acts 12
8 And the angel said to him: Gird thyself, and put on thy sandals. And he did so. And he said to him: Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

Exodus 12
11 And thus you shall eat it: you shall gird your reins, and you shall have shoes on your feet, holding staves in your hands, and you shall eat in haste: for it is the Phase (that is the Passage) of the Lord.

Acts 12
9 And going out, he followed him, and he knew not that it was true which was done by the angel: but thought he saw a vision. 10 And passing through the first and the second ward, they came to the iron gate that leadeth to the city, which of itself opened to them. And going out, they passed on through one street: and immediately the angel departed from him.

Exodus 14
21 And when Moses had stretched forth his hand over the sea, the Lord took it away by a strong and burning wind blowing all the night, and turned it into dry ground: and the water was divided. 22 And the children of Israel went in through the midst of the sea dried up: for the water was as a wall on their right hand and on their left.

Acts 12
11 And Peter coming to himself, said: Now I know in very deed, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

Exodus
30 And the Lord delivered Israel on that day out of the hands of the Egyptians.

Acts 12
16 But Peter continued knocking. And when they had opened, they saw him, and were astonished. 17 But he beckoning to them with his hand to hold their peace, told how the Lord had brought him out of prison, and he said: Tell these things to James, and to the brethren. And going out, he went into another place.

Numbers 20
16 And how we cried to the Lord, and he heard us, and sent an angel, who hath brought us out of Egypt. Lo, we are now in the city of Cades, which is in the uttermost of thy borders,
